“The Origins” tour focuses on archaeological insights and the evolution of the montado landscape across different historical periods, with particular emphasis on the Neolithic era.
During the visit, participants will have the opportunity to explore the site where a Neolithic settlement was excavated and studied, as well as visit a full-scale reconstruction of a Neolithic village.
This space was recreated by Manuel Calado using experimental archaeology techniques, with the aim of simulating life in a settlement over 7,000 years old.
The experience offers a deeper understanding of prehistory and the scientific methods used to uncover how our ancestors lived. Guided by a member of the Saberes do Freixo project, visitors can gain insight into the lives of the first farming communities to settle in the region.
Free for children up to 12 years old when accompanied by parents.
