The Monte do Freixo do Meio is the main hub and also serves as the entrance point to the property. It consists of four interconnected groups of buildings and structures, including, among others, the Freixo do Meio Welcome Center. This is the reception point for visitors, where they receive information, can rest, sample acorn infusion, and purchase products made on-site.
A second group includes the “Casa da Augusta” (local accommodation unit) and the owners’ residence.
The third group consists of the “Escola,” where one of the rooms has been converted into the “Montado and Agroforestry Interpretation Center,” and the “Casa da Professora” (local accommodation unit).
The fourth and largest group of buildings includes the oil mill, where olive oil is produced and grapes are pressed, and the “Casa da Malta,” which has dormitory-style rooms and laundry facilities, primarily used by school groups and other visitors. It also includes the vegetable processing unit, the acorn dryer, the acorn processing room, the cooking room, the fresh vegetable preparation unit, the cloister with an indoor garden around a small pond, tool storage areas, support rooms for plant and animal production, the kitchen, and the “Cabana dos Bois” canteen, where daily meals are served.
