The Montado is one of the oldest and richest living models of agroforestry on our planet. It was this formula of cooperation between humans and nature that inspired us and led us to adopt it, in the early 1990s, as a way to obtain food while simultaneously regenerating the ecosystem.
In addition to traditional foods, honey, mushrooms, wild plants, and game meat have been gaining popularity due to increasing demand.
The Acorn for human consumption is the symbol of Montado do Freixo do Meio.
Of the more than 130 species identified across the 600 hectares of the estate, we share the surplus of over 20 species for food purposes.
Our mission is to build a community around Herdade Freixo do Meio that is democratic, inclusive, transparent, autonomous, and resilient, that achieves a constantly improving relationship with natural resources, and that encourages personal development.
