Barn without grain, people without bread.
This is how we found Freixo do Meio. The land exhausted and the knowledge lost. Wheat was the only cereal that could still be grown here, but the land was no longer suitable.
Since then we have not stopped creating soil to one day turn this essential piece in the mosaic of the Montado back into a crop.
Lupin is, for now, the prevailing legume in Freixo do Meio.
Our mission is to build a community around Herdade Freixo do Meio that is democratic, inclusive, transparent, autonomous, and resilient, that achieves a constantly improving relationship with natural resources, and that encourages personal development.
