The production of food products at Montado do Freixo do Meio depends on the interaction of Man with a complex system that we want regenerated, both ecologically and socially.
Like in any system, this always works as a whole, regardless of how we classify and name things. The Montado is One. We can talk of the garden, the vineyard, the agroforests of dynamic succession, or the arable or the Montado Agroforest proper. The natural and human connections between these different pieces of the Montado mosaic are unimaginable.
Our mission is to build a community around Herdade Freixo do Meio that is democratic, inclusive, transparent, autonomous, and resilient, that achieves a constantly improving relationship with natural resources, and that encourages personal development.
